About Us:

Charm City Cakes is looking for a passionate and creative baking and cake decorating instructor to join our team! This role is perfect for someone who loves teaching, developing new class concepts, and engaging with the community. If you're enthusiastic about cakes, buttercream, and bringing people together through baking, we’d love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

Teach weekend cake and cupcake decorating classes.

Develop new class offerings, including cupcake and cake designs, baking classes, and buttercream techniques with guidance and class format templates from our team.

Assist with off-site camps during spring break and summer.

Support Charm City Cakes' in-house summer camps.

Help manage class-related social media and promotion.

Work on outreach efforts to grow class participation and increase profits.

Assist with off-site class and camp outreach.

Must have reliable transportation for off-site events.

Schedule:

20-24 hours per week (flexible schedule).

Saturdays – Teaching classes.

Weekdays – Administrative and class development work.

Summers – Additional 8+ hours per week to support summer camps.

Occasional subbing opportunities during summer camps.

Qualifications:

Prior teaching or coaching experience is a plus.

Ability to develop fun, engaging, and interactive class content.

Experience in baking, cake decorating, or pastry arts is appreciated but not required.

Passion for DIY projects and creative crafts.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Familiarity with social media is a bonus!

Must have reliable transportation.

Overall Description:

We need a reliable teacher who can instruct groups, give clear instructions, and foster a fun and creative environment for camps with Howard County Recreation and Parks. This person will facilitate two daily camp sessions for students 9-15 years old, teaching them how to bake Duff’s recipes and decorate cakes and cupcakes. Curriculum will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading camp lessons and activities for students 9-15 years old

Maintaining a safe classroom environment

Facilitating a fun and educational experience for students

Teaching students how to bake Duff’s recipes

Teaching students how to decorate cakes and cupcakes

Prepping and cleaning up classroom

Communicate daily activities classroom assistant and use assistant to help camp run smoothly

Qualifications:

Must have experience teaching kids

Must be willing to learn new skills to teach classes

Must have strong time-management skills

Attention to detail - must have a stellar work ethic and take extreme pride in a job well done.

Experience working in a commercial kitchen, baking, or cake decorating is a plus

Arts background is a plus
