A lot of you have written in asking about Laura, the cutie patootie who came in for her Make-A-Wish experience a couple years back. Many folks want to know how she's doing. I'm happy to report that we've kept in touch since her visit here, and she has provided us with an awesome update. Here it is!
Dear Mary Alice,
Since I visited the bakery for Make-A-Wish in 2007 everything has been going fine, I've graduated 6th and 7th grades and I'm currently in the 8th Grade at middle school in Houston. I'm also applying to go to high schools for next year. One high school I've applied to is the Debakey High School for Medical Professions, because I'd like to be an Oncologist or Physical/Occupational Therapist and help kids who've had problems like mine.
All my MRI's have been stable and that's good news. My next MRI is in April and if that's OK I'll switch to yearly monitoring. I recently had some extra surgery at Shriners Hospital in Houston to free up the tendons in my arm and give me more movement and strength in my left hand. I'm still going to Occupational and Physical Therapy and I'm still getting stronger in both my left arm and leg.
Most importantly, I'm still "keeping it sweet"!

Hooray for Laura! Great to see her fabulous smile and dimples again!
Lastly, if any of you are going to be in Atlantic City this weekend, stop by Harrah's Showboat Casino on Saturday night and come say hello to Duff! He'll be leading the Mardis Gras parade. Someone please take pictures of that for me!
There will be much more news updates this week - I have tons to catch you up on. In the meantime, have a super swell night!
xoxo,
Mary Alice
